Aston Martin

Aston Martin DB2/4 1953-1955 DB2/4 Mk II  1956-1959DB2/4 & DB2/4 Mk II 1953-1955 / 1956-1959 production of 566 / 199 units--Stepped down from racing and developed as a road car. Mulliner bodies and all but 70 were coupes, with a 2.6 liter Vantage engine. 1956's Mk II version had a sharper rear line, a 3 liter engine with a top speed of 120 miles per hour. The car would do 0-60 in 11.1 seconds.

 


Aston Martin DB2/4 MkIII 1957-1959DB2/4 Mk III 1957-1959 production of 551 units-- A further revision for the successful car. It had front disc brakes with improved acceleration and options like overdrive and even automatic transmission. Some call this car (in error) the DB III.

 


Aston Martin DB4 1958-1963DB4 1958-1963 production of 1103 units-- Built on a new chassis using DOHC 3.7 liter striaght six with a 4 speed gearbox. The body was by Touring of Milan and had disc brakes on all 4 wheels. 0-60 was achieved in 8.5 seconds. A convertible was added in 1961.

 


Aston Martin DB4GT 1960-1963DB4GT 1960-1963 production of 75 units--A low roof line, this car is small and lighter than the standard DB4. 0-60 in 6.4 seconds.

 

 


Aston Masrtin DB4GT Zagato 1961-1963DB4GT Zagato 1961-1963 production of 19 units--Now considered a great classic, it is a heavy (2600 lb) car. But still had a respectable 0-60 in 6.1 seconds.

 

 


Aston Martin DB5 1963-1965DB5 1963-1965 production of 1021 units--Of which 123 were convertibles. a 4 liter engine came as standard with a 5 speed. Or an automatic transmission as an option. This was the car James Bond drove in the movie Goldfinger.

 

 


Aston MArtin DB6 1965-1970DB6 1965-1970 production of 1753 units--Aston Martins had had very little performance improvements over the years, they concentrated mainly on comfort improvements. The DB6 had its wheelbase increased by 2 inches, and after 1967 power steering was added. The Mk II version had flared wheel openings and wire wheels. 140 of the total units were convertibles.

 


Aston Martin DBS 1967-1973DBS 1967-1973 production of 857 units--A new elegant looking body by William Towns and an increased wheelbase of 1 inch. Most cars had automatic transmissions.
